O’Neill Men’s 1.5mm Hyperx L/S Crew Black

Overview

The O’Neill Men’s 1.5mm HyperX L/S Crew is a zip-free, long-sleeve wetsuit top made from 100% recycled TB3X (TechnoButter 3X). That’s O’Neill’s pre-stretched neoprene with a featherlight ENVY foam rubber core, which O’Neill calls the lightest, most flexible and softest material it has made. Without a zip it’s simple and durable, and it moves with you when you paddle.

Flatlock seams keep it flexible and strong, a boardshort loop connector lets you pair it with your boardies, and there’s a hidden key pocket inside. At 1.5mm it’s a warm-weather layer, not a winter suit. Around Kaikōura it’s best in summer, when published averages put the sea at about 16°C in January and February. Use it for a surf in boardshorts, a stand-up paddle or a paddle along the coast when you want some warmth and cover without zipping into a full steamer. How warm it feels depends on you and the day, so on cooler days a full suit is still the safer bet.
