Surf Gear, Shipped NZ-Wide

Surf gear ships NZ-wide, and unused accessories have 30-day returns. Boards ship to main centres and are covered under their own rules (see Surfboards). That’s the boring bit sorted.

We’ve been a surf shop in Kaikoura since 2003, same spot on West End. Our coast is reef and rock, cold most of the year and punchy when it turns on. If gear doesn’t hold up here, we stop stocking it. Simple as that.

In this section you’ll find surfboards from JS Industries, Aloha, McCoy and Mick Fanning, plus softboards from Ocean & Earth for learners and kids. For the bits that keep you attached and moving, there’s FCS and Creatures leg ropes, FCS fins and deck grips, wax, towels and ponchos.

A few honest tips for NZ buyers:

• Leg ropes: match the length to your board. Roughly the same length as the board, a bit longer for mals. Over reef, don’t go cheap. A snapped rope at a rocky break means a long swim and a dinged board.
• Fins: check your fin system before you order. FCS II and Futures don’t swap. If you’re not sure what’s in your board, send us a photo.
• Grips and wax: wax for the water temperature you actually surf. Most of the South Island needs cold or cool wax for most of the year.

Do you ship surf gear NZ-wide?
Yes. We ship anywhere in New Zealand from our shop in Kaikoura. Check /shipping-info/ for rates and times.

What if a leg rope or fins don’t fit my board?
Get in touch within 30 days. If they’re unused, in the original packaging with tags on, we’ll swap or refund. Details are on /info/30-days-right-return/.

How long should my leg rope be?
About the same length as your board. Go a foot longer for longboards, and choose a thicker rope for bigger surf or reef breaks.
